BCN3D Inaugurates New Factory in Lleida: Advancing Additive Manufacturing for Global Industry
Official Press Release
Lleida, October 15, 2026 — Additive manufacturing is rapidly transforming how products are designed, prototyped, and brought to market. Marking a major milestone in this industrial evolution, BCN3D officially inaugurated its brand-new facility in Lleida. today.

Operating under the INGROUP corporate umbrella, BCN3D is expanding its capacity to develop and manufacture professional and industrial 3D printers built on proprietary technology for international markets.
The official opening at Activa Park brought together industrial partners, tech experts, and community leaders to explore how 3D printing can revolutionize modern manufacturing workflows.
A Rich History Meets Strategic Vision
BCN3D’s technological foundation began in 2011 at the CIM technology center within the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Over the past decade, the company has grown into a key player in additive manufacturing, enabling businesses to design and produce custom components with unprecedented flexibility.
This new chapter in Lleida represents a strategic effort by INGROUP to consolidate and internalize BCN3D’s specialized operations and technological know-how. Led by INGROUP CEO Joan Folguera and Factory Director Francesc Adell, the acquisition merges BCN3D’s pioneering technology with INGROUP’s deep additive manufacturing experience dating back to 2016.
During the event, attendees toured the production facility, observed live machine assembly, and experienced real-time demonstrations of BCN3D’s printing ecosystem.
“When we talk about innovation, we often think of machines, software, or industrial processes,” stated Joan Folguera, CEO of INGROUP. “But technology doesn’t advance on its own. Behind it are people, knowledge, experience, and hours of hard work. That human element is BCN3D’s single greatest asset.”
Folguera also emphasized the local industrial potential: “Lleida has the talent and professional drive to lead industrial transformation. Our goal is to convert that knowledge into real economic opportunities, and projects like this prove it’s completely possible.”
Proprietary IDEX Technology & New Updates
A core differentiator for BCN3D is its patented IDEX (Independent Dual Extruder) technology. By utilizing two independent print heads, IDEX allows users to double production throughput, print multi-material components, and manufacture complex geometries. It serves as a vital tool across prototyping, tooling, and short-run production.
BCN3D’s current flagship lineup includes the Epsilon and Omega I60 series, both engineered specifically for demanding industrial environments.
Major Product Upgrades Announced:
-
1.75 mm Filament Upgrade Kit: BCN3D is releasing an upgrade kit for the Epsilon series, transitioning from 2.85 mm to the international standard 1.75 mm filament. The update features direct extrusion and renewed print head technology, offering customers an easy path to keep their existing machinery cutting-edge. Preorders will start soon, after the official première at Formnext.
-
Real-World Impact: Industry leaders like Nissan and Saint-Gobain continue to leverage BCN3D solutions to create custom tools and specialized manufacturing fixtures tailored to their assembly lines.
The Next Frontier: AI-Driven Design & Industrial Innovation
Additive manufacturing is solving critical challenges in automotive, aerospace, product design, and custom engineering by cutting development cycles and streamlining supply chains.
Looking ahead, BCN3D revealed a sneak peek at its upcoming roadmap: a new industrial printer launching later this year.
Central to this new platform will be AI-powered parametric design, developed locally by INGROUP’s engineering team in Lleida. The integration of AI aims to drastically lower the barrier to entry for 3D design, helping engineers go from initial concept to physical manufactured part faster than ever before.
“3D manufacturing allows us to execute projects that would otherwise be too complex, slow, or costly,” explained Francesc Adell, Factory Director. “We can design, test, refine, and reprint a part instantly without waiting on long tooling lead times. Our mission is to make high-precision 3D printing an accessible, reliable tool for every factory floor.”
Looking to the Future
As industrial manufacturing adapts to rapid technical changes—and demands higher cyber-resilience across connected environments—BCN3D remains focused on the core factor driving real progress: people.
“Machines can be extraordinary, but human talent remains irreplaceable,” concluded Folguera.
