Post-processing colorFabb materials: copperfill and bronzefill
During the last RapidPro2016 in Eindhoven, Colorfabb and BCN3D Technologies announced a collaboration project to make both companies able to explore new possibilities and empower the BCN3D users to push the limits of 3D printing. BCN3D Technologies become the official Colorfabb distributor in Spain and Portugal.
Colorfabb is known by developing high-quality filaments, which are developed and produced in the Netherlands. There are several Colorfabb materials, but today we will focus on two of the most interesting filaments, Copperfill and Bronzefill. These two materials are characterized by their finishes once they are post processed as they seem real copper and bronze material. After a few months working with these materials, today we bring you a new video tutorial. This is about how to polish and sand pieces printed with Copperfill and Bronzefill. The procedure is very simple and is thought so that everyone can do it at home. The material used is standard and is easy to find.
As shown in the video, the material necessary for performing the sanding and the polishing is as follows:
- 120-grit sandpaper.
- Warding file set.
- Sanding sponge 3M (Grits: Medium, Fine and superfine).
- A cotton rag.
- Grits from 800 up to 2000 of wet & dry sandpaper.
- Polish liquid g10.
The model printed on the video took 5 hours and the layer height was 200 microns. It was printed on the BCN3D Sigma. You can find it on Thingiverse
